Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information KobyCopy ("we", "us", "the service") collects when you use our desktop app or website, how we use it, and the choices you have. We tried to keep it plain. If something is unclear, email copykoby@gmail.com and we'll explain.

1. What we collect

We collect only what we need to run the service:

• Account information. Your email address, used to sign in and associate your subscription.
• Payment information. When you subscribe, Stripe processes your payment. We receive your subscription status, plan, renewal date, and billing country, but we never see or store your card number.
• Basic website analytics. Our website host (Vercel) may record standard request logs such as IP address, user agent, and referring page for security and abuse prevention. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking pixels.

2. What we do not collect

The text you rewrite with KobyCopy does not pass through our servers. The desktop app sends rewrite requests directly to the AI provider you choose (Claude, OpenAI, or the bundled offline model). We do not read, log, store, or train on your copy.

We also do not collect:

• The contents of files you open, edit, or select text from.
• Usage telemetry, clickstream data, or keystrokes from inside the app.
• Your brand voice profiles or custom prompts. These stay on your device.

3. How we use the information we collect

• To authenticate you and give you access to your subscription.
• To process payments and manage billing.
• To respond to support requests and feedback.
• To detect and prevent fraud or abuse of the service.

4. Service providers we use

We rely on a short list of providers to run the service. Each handles only the data it needs:

• Supabase — account and authentication storage.
• Stripe — payment processing and subscription management.
• Resend — transactional emails (sign-in codes, billing receipts).
• Vercel — hosting for kobycopy.com.
• GitHub — hosting for installer downloads.

Each provider has its own privacy practices, and we recommend reviewing them if you want a complete picture.

5. AI providers you choose

When you use the app, you pick where your rewrite requests go. If you choose Claude (Anthropic) or OpenAI with your own API key, your text is sent directly from your machine to that provider under its terms and privacy policy. If you use the bundled offline model, nothing leaves your device. We are not an intermediary in either case.

6. Data retention

We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. If you cancel and ask us to delete your account, we will remove it within 30 days, except where retention is required to comply with legal, tax, or accounting obligations. Stripe retains payment records for the period required by law.

7. Your rights

You can request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email copykoby@gmail.com and we'll respond within a reasonable time. If you are in a jurisdiction with specific data protection rights (such as the EU/UK under GDPR, or California under CCPA), those rights apply.

8. Cookies

Our website uses only cookies strictly necessary for the site to function (for example, to remember your session on the checkout return page). We do not set third-party advertising or analytics cookies. The desktop app does not use cookies.

9. Children

KobyCopy is not intended for people under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. International transfers

Our providers may store and process data in the United States and other countries. By using KobyCopy, you consent to that processing where applicable law permits.

11. Security

We protect your account information using industry-standard measures, including encryption in transit and at rest through our providers. No system is perfectly secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, email us immediately.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the service evolves. When we make material changes, we'll update the effective date at the top and, where appropriate, notify you by email or in the app. Continued use of KobyCopy after changes means you accept the updated policy.
